Words to Ponder, 1 Corinthians 2:14

But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.

(New Living Translation from BibleGateway)

Which means everyone needs the Spirit’s intervention if we’re to understand spiritual truths. No one is superior in this, we’re all at the same level; but these words are also encouraging for the Christian is told by society that believing and following God is for the weak-minded, that being spiritual makes us less intelligent. (There is a real movement of hatred right now among some atheists and it can be very hurtful to Christians if we don’t realise the emotion is misplaced, that what’s happening is actually an outburst of deep-seated anger against God Himself, not us.)
