Words to Ponder, Deuteronomy 13:4

Serve only the LORD your God and fear him alone. Obey his commands, listen to his voice, and cling to him. (New Living Translation)

Two phrases stick out here: “fear Him alone,” meaning nothing in the world is worth worrying over (like people’s opinions) or being scared (like disease) when I have Him on my side (or rather, I’m on His side); and “cling to Him,” where I picture one of my boys holding on to me not only when they’re frightened but also out of love…
